One First Post

Well, hello there! If you're reading this, I must say I'm very surprised. Well, right now I am, at least. Perhaps in the future this blog will become incredibly popular, and legions of my adoring fans and supporters will read this very post with a look of wonder on each and every face. I can hear it now:

Good golly, One Joy Crelin, whyever would you be surprised to have readers? Why, a young lady of your awe-inspiring intellect and general eloquence--!

Ahem. Perhaps it should be mentioned that One Joy Crelin (I'll leave it to you to decide which one) has some delusions of grandeur.

Moving on.

Come September 2nd, I'll be starting college, and I intend to begin establishing myself as a writer, editor, and crazy cat lady. Scratch that last. No cats in the dorms :(
Anyway, as you may have guessed by my use of my real name in this blog's title, I intend this to be my "professional" blog. I won't be discussing my personal life very much here. Instead, I'll most likely be posting writing samples, news about my current personal projects and classwork, and ruminations on certain topics that are important to me.

Alternately, I could post lots of pictures of cats with amusing captions. The idea is tempting.
Nevertheless, for now I think I'll give my original idea a whirl.

This brings us to the most important part--the question you are probably asking yourself right now. No, not I can has cheezburger?! The question I'm referring to is Why in the name of all things cute and fuzzy should I CARE?.
Well. In all honesty, I can't think of a legitimate answer to that.

I suppose I'll settle for Because I say so!
